Tru Blood Beverage

Tru Blood: The Soda
So I'm going through clips and news pieces to see what I missed at this year's San Diego Comic Con. I was entertained by Kevin Smith's talk; I drooled over a few of the vinyl toys; but I was partly stunned by this bit of news.

HBO announced it's selling Tru Blood drinks. A 4 pack will run you $16.00 plus shipping and taxes.

Apparently it's a blood orange flavored soda. They've already started coming up with alcoholic mixed drinks you can make yourself.

Meticulously crafted, the Tru Blood Drink is an exact replica of the bottle design as seen on True Blood. The 14oz glass Tru Blood bottle is stained in a rich red, with raised Tru Blood English lettering and matching Japanese Kanji.

Now here's the funny part. I can't decide if I think this is cool or if it's...well...lame. I am completely torn.

Having a vampire drink at my next Halloween party is a fantastic notion yet a small side of me resists. So what's my problem?

Maybe it's strictly the fact that you're paying $4.00 a pop. Plus shipping. Plus a shipping surcharge of $5.00. The whole thing is tainted by corporate hands. It's a bit of a bleed-the-vampire-fans-dry (har har) move.

Or maybe it's because I'm tiring of the orgy scenes in the show starring Miss Twitchy. Got it. You make people screw. Let's move on.

Whatever it is, I don't think I'll be buying it, but I certainly would be happy if someone sent me some or showed up with a cooler of them.

Unfortunately, book 2 was,

Unfortunately, book 2 was, well, kind of about orgies. I can't even tell you how embarrassed I get trying to watch that show. TOO MUCH SEX!

Though the idea of serving TruBlood is awesome, I think I'd prefer to re-label something cheaper. The cost seems ... excessive.

Ooooo....

...sounds tasty. I wonder if lil' indie shops (like the few record stores left) and hmm...some cool indie restaurants would carry 'em. I'd like to try one but wouldn't buy a case. Very cool find!

Yetch has weighed in...

He says he'd pay the extra cash to own the bottles. He WON'T do this, but in the world of hypothetical, he would.

I do like the bottles.

slurp

I would totally buy those. They sound delish! Especially with the mixed drinks possibilities.

Hmmm, Vodka Bottle

Huh, I've got this bottle of Ice Queen Vodka at home I need to use, and a Fangbanger sounds pretty cool, but I'll probably just try to find some kind of orange soda and go with that. . .Geez, I may even be able to find some kind of Blood Orange soda!
