Crows in the Corners

on October 25, 2011 - 2:41pm

Martha Stewart has good ideas.

Sometimes they just need some tweaking.

Here's my take on a cool way to display those feathery fiends you've collected for Halloween.

The Amazing Bird Boy!

on October 23, 2010 - 11:51am

I'm just getting ready to head out to Dia de Los Muertos Festival of The Arts. Thought I would share some last minute additions with you quickly before I skedaddle.

Ever since I made Aucellus, I've had a hankering to make little skeleton birds. Maybe robed creatures. Maybe caged creatures. I didn't know what would come first.

A friend saw Aucky for the first time and said "You should really make small versions of this. I'd buy it."

Everything fell into place (meaning I found items I'd want to use for making such a creature), and the process has begun. The first is the Amazing Bird Boy, a beaked humanoid creature.

I was having some fun with what his species would be, and the closest I came up with was Premuman (Premature Emu Human).

Regardless, he sits upright with a human torso and a definitive birdlike head, with a beak a bit narrower than his feathered brothers. More like a nose.

Whoooooo's Getting Ready for Christmas?

on November 23, 2009 - 12:02pm

The newest addition to the Christmas ornament projects include these Owl Wreaths.

Using the tiny Christmas tree doesn't help give you a sense of size. They are approximately 10cms high.

Being an owl lover, I think they are ridiculously cute. I'm hoping they will appeal to a wide variety of people.

If you're in Toronto, and hope to get your hands on these, I have two shows coming up. First I'll be at Girlesque at Mitzi's Sister, 1554 Queen West at 9:30 (I'll be one of the people NOT wearing tassells or boas) tomorrow night (Nov 24, 2009).

And for those of you who may prefer a slightly more traditional craft event, I'll be part of Craftzilla on Saturday, December 5, 2009. It runs from 1:00pm - 6:00pm at Kathedral 651 Queen Street West.

At the moment, these are my only shows. Don't miss your chance to get a Peek-a-boo plant for the one you love!
