Spot Ghoul Friday at Nuit Blanche
A reminder that tonight in Toronto is Nuit Blanche, a free art event that takes over the city from sundown (6:52 p.m.) to sunrise. For one sleepless night, experience Toronto transformed by artists. Discover art in galleries, museums and unexpected places. From bridges and tunnels to warehouses and stadiums, choose from more than 155 destinations and chart your own path.
Exhibits of interest may include Horroridor where viewers will be guided toward a long corridor where they will pass through the approximately 20-foot dual projections of visual and audio recordings of hundreds of people screaming on either side of them. I plan to pop by this exhibit.
There is also Playdead Cult, a multi-media Dia De Los Muertos-inspired night fusing traditional culture and Mexican folklore and the unique aesthetic of Playdead Cult. There will be live painting by Stu Dead (co-owner of Playdead Cult) plus sculptural installations in & outside of the building. I will be there too, either as my first stop early in the night or my last stop later.
And then of course I'll be going to Zombies in Condoland which I blogged about earlier this month.
Just to make it fun, if you can find me in the crowds tonight, I'll make sure you get a prize. But what do I look like? Here's your only hints:
- I'll be the ghoul who is 5'5", with dark hair in two low pigtails (just like my logo)
- I'll be wearing blue jeans, black boots with bright orange flames over the toes, and since it'll be cold, probably my black Zombie hoodie with white detailing on the front (if it's warmer and the hoodie is off, I'll have a black blouse and cardigan on).
- I'll start at Playdead Cult first in the west end, between 7 and 8 pm. Then off to Horroridor. Then I'm going north. I'll be hitting Zombie's in Condoland before midnight hopefully.
