Playgrounds Can be Tough

I'm sure most of us can remember a time in childhood when our parents nudged us out the door to play, even though something - be it the local bully or the crazy neighbour's dog that's always loose - was waiting for us. I can remember many a battle taking place at the local park. Though I will admit, I never had to fight zombies (not real ones, anyway).

This corner snapshot from Jason Chan's "Zombie Playground" sums up a metaphor of what it was like to battle those foes way back when.

Gives a whole new spin on "King of the Castle", doesn't it?

The artist, Jason Chan, was born in Stockton, California. After studying 3D animation and anatomy drawing, his goal is to "marry my western art education with my eastern art interest and see what happens". He currently works for Massive Black, Inc.

Zombie Playground was Jason's entry into a contest on ConceptArt.org. The theme was "Outbreak."

awsomeness

finding this pic gives you like +10 to your already super high awesomeness score. I love how each kid has such a distinct personalty. you see the leader leading the charge with his makeshift shield and sword. the trouble making comedian armed with her faithful slingshot. the bookish girl probably has a first aid kit in her backpack. its all in all just a great pic.

Thanks Spooky :)

I'm particularly drawn to the kneeling zombie child on the left of the picture. Sums up the emptiness of being zombified. And of course, the zombie fighting at the top of the slide just creeps me out.
