Misgivings Weekend 2011 is Almost Here!
Some of you may remember last year when I decided there needed to be a holiday weekend to mark the approach of Halloween. It is to Halloween what Thanksgiving is to Christmas.
It takes place the 7th Sunday before Halloween, which means this coming weekend is Misgivings Day Weekend!
How to celebrate? Well that's easy. Eat as much fall fare (like pumpkin ale, trick or treat candy which is now on sale at the stores, pies both savoury and sweet) as humanly possible. Work on Halloween props, decor and projects. Watch horror movies and break out Halloween cartoons.
Been wondering if it's too early to decorate? No problem! It's Misgivings Day weekend, which means the Halloween season has officially begun. Do as you please. And if anyone asks why you're decorating so soon, just point to the calendar with an expression that clearly conveys a "duh" sentiment.
As for myself, I am going to light my pumpkin spice candle and work on items for next month's show (since I was almost completely sold out by the end of FanExpo. I went from having a stacked, professional-looking tiered display on Friday to something more akin to a garage sale by Sunday, with a paltry 4 mini pumpkins, 2 minions and some ornaments left to sell. I actually put up a sign to thank everyone for such a successful weekend, and encouraged them to check out the website so they could actually see some of my art since there was none to be spotted anymore).
And I will be posting images of the skull candles I've finally gotten around to finishing, and maybe inspire some of you to make your own.
So spread the word (you can even use the above image if you like), and don't forget to let me know how you will celebrate Misgivings Day Weekend!
