He Ain't No Frosty

Creepy Snowmen
I've started experimenting with scary snowmen, and snapped a quick photo to show you the first two out of the gate.

Decided to go with a classic look for one, from his carrot to his buttons. And the other has a snow-skull for his head.

I'll take some nicer photos when I get them set up in their winter setting. I have two shows coming up in the city, and I need to update the table display to reflect the change in season. I'm fairly excited to have it all set up because I've never done a creepy Christmas display. It's like rediscovering Halloween and Christmas decorating all over again.

My only apprehension as I travel down this path is the unavoidable references or comparisons to Nightmare Before Christmas. It distracts me during the creation process, and I've already steered away from a couple of interesting ideas because of it. It's a bit frustrating.

I know I can't stop people from equating Halloween-flavoured Christmas decorations with Tim Burton, and I'll try to infuse these pieces with Ghoul Friday Flair until they brim over with my own artistic signature. It's the best I can do.

Creepy Christmass

I have had the same dilemma when wanting to attempt Creepy Christmas decorations... They come out resembling, in some fashion, Nightmare Before Christmas. Even if they don't resembling Burton's creations in any way...the viewers instantly mention it.

The little guys are awesome!! Can't wait to see more!

It's time . . .

. . . someone showed this Tim Burton character that he doesn't have a monopoly on creepy Christmas. Love the snowmen. You're having quite a busy year. :D

So adorable...

...in the inimitable GF way. Personally, I'd take the comparison to Nightmare as a compliment, but perhaps that's because nothing I create will ever reach that standard:D

I trust none of the Underbiters are snowman eaters. That could be a problem.

Hey Ghoulie, I say screw tim

Hey Ghoulie,

I say screw tim burton, he just ripped of edward gorey anyhow! Make whatever you want and let the good times roll. Our Christmas tree has been covered with day of the dead skeletons and dead angels for 5 or 6 years now that we made form sculpey. What would happen if you combined a jack o lantern with a present? Gift o lantern, jack o gift? I saw just add sharp teeth to everything!!! I look forward to seeing what you create!
