Creepshow 2 movie poster
In my youth, my father worked at a movie store on the weekends. He eventually moved on to another job, but always maintained a friendship with the staff.

This meant we always watched movies, and my father was always coming home with movie posters and movie stands.

The posters would usually end up plastered across the ceiling of the "tv room", and eventually they covered the walls, edge to edge, like wall paper. Most of these posters were from horror films.

While visiting my mother the other day, I decided to poke my head into the tv room. She takes care of teenage girls, so she's kept the posters up over the years. A quick scan revealed an impressive collection. Here are pictures of the ones that stood out, but it certainly isn't all of them.

Upstairs in the main hall (there's a lot of space) are a number of movie stands as well, including a rather impressive Nightmare on Elm Street one with an almost life size Freddy on it. I know somewhere in that house is a smaller one that lights up.

One day, when I have more room, and my mother decides to clear house, I look forward to having some of these gems to decorate with.

'Creepy' Magazine coverOk creepy kiddies, and all you monster-crazed collectors, have I got a fun website for you. It's called Mad-Monsters.com, and it's filled with some visual treats.

Let's start with the magazine covers. The section is sorted into 30 categories, each one represented with an image from that collection. You click on the cover of choice, and it leads you to additional images. Titles include Famous Monsters, Horror Tales, Tomb of Dracula, and Modern Monsters (to name but a few).

If you like those, you'll appreciate the movie posters as well. There are vintage selections such as Attack of the 50 Foot Woman and Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein, and some cult classics like Blackula and Astro Zombies ("See astro space laboratory. See brutal mutants menace beautiful girls").

Want more movie images? You got it. There are 13 movie titles that each have 30 or so movie stills to choose from.

Fellow frighteners, you may have seen the work of Ghoulish Gary Pullin before, but let me formally introduce you.

After earning a degree in graphic design and advertising, Pullin moved to Toronto from London (Ontario). For a time he was producing work for the corporate market, but soon Pullin became involved with Rue Morgue (which is where most of you have probably seen his work. And for any of you who thought to yourself 'What is Rue Morgue?', sweet lord. Get thee to their website).

When he isn't adding creepy-cool to Rue Morgue, he's creating web illustrations, posters (for bands like Canadian horrorbillies The Creepshow) and other various commercial pieces (all worth a peek). One day when I finish building the bones of this site, and come into money, perhaps I'll ask him to spookify my own little real estate on the web. Donations gladly accepted *wink*.

Until then, I've posted a couple of my favourite pieces here on this blog, including a nifty drawing of the 'Hilarious House of Frightenstein'.

As mentioned in the last blog post, I've been sorting through the array of groups on Facebook. I thought I would list 4 groups of different categories that may be of interest.

Halloween Home Haunters is my immediate first pick. It's a fairly active group of people with a certain degree of home haunting experience. It's much like being on a forum, only with less members. So far, everyone seems pretty friendly. And as an added bonus, most of them seem to be from southern Ontario, Canada which suits me just fine.
