organ tableclothThe folks over at Aksel Creations are doing some interesting things with fabric design.

We'll start with the simple and elegant organ tablecloth (pictured left). Understated creepiness is always a plus in my books. I like that it's subtle, and visitors may not recognize what the design is at first glance.

It's part of graphic designer Aksel Varichon's 2008 'Home Flow' household linen collection. You can buy similar oven mitts, aprons, place mats, and pillows.

Or you can skip the pillow and purchase an arm chair, choosing from 4 different designs (pictured below).

There wasn't any prices listed on the website, which indicates I can't afford it. But perhaps a rich bone-daddy out there might want to pick it up as, oh I don't know, an early birthday present for a certain ghoul?

led finger lamps
Every holiday results in retailers trying to convince customers that their product is the perfect gift for that particular time of year. The folks over at www.techchee.com are no exception, but I think the boys from China have pushed positioning of a product just a bit too far in this post for a Valentine gift idea published on Feb. 6, 2009.

The title reads "LED finger lamps for creepy-yet-romantic night on the Valentine's day". As a haunter, I thought the title seemed promising. Even after I saw the picture of the odd LED fingertips, I didn't dismiss the gadget completely, and thought perhaps they would spin it for people who like weird Halloweenish items (I could see prop and costume potential). But then I read the post that explained why these glowing fingertips would make the perfect gift:

You may wanna create special atmosphere on the Valentine's day. What about getting your girl and you in darkness and show her your green-glowing fingertips? It would probably be the most unforgettable Valentine’s night for her.

Pardon?

Confused, slightly uncomfortable, and suppressing the 13 year old boy in my brain who is already stringing together inappropriate off-colour jokes, I keep reading the pitch.

Rice Krispies Treats
I picked this recipe up from Freddie and Cindy's Halloween website. For some reason, the link to their homepage wasn't working so I couldn't verify whether or not they allow other people to use their information. So Freddie and Cindy, if you're out there, I hope you don't mind that I have posted your idea.

  1. Make Rice Krispies treats as directed on the box.
  2. When cool enough to handle, roll into balls the size of a...well, an eyeball.
  3. Melt some white chocolate and coat the balls.
  4. Place an M&M in the center of the eyeball and press lightly.
  5. Place eyeball on wax paper to set up. Putting the tray in the fridge helps speed up the process.
  6. Store in a container.

Want to get fancy with the treats? There are oodles of recipe ideas on the official Rice Krispies website.

kid eating bread shaped like a face
Kittiwat Unarrom, now in his early 30's, has decided to go into the family business. In a bakery 100 km west of Bangkok, customers aren't greeted by sesame topped treats or dainty doughnuts. Instead they find body parts on hooks and plastic-wrapped decapitations.

Unarrom, an art graduate, took his talent for portrait painting and sculpting, and transitioned it to bread making. I think it's safe to say he is a new breed of baker in his hometown of Potharam, Thailand.

two flat faces sandwich wrapped
Hands, arms, feet, faces and entire torsos - each one so realistic I imagine they would be hard to consume - are waiting for hungry customers. The eeriness alone of seeing all the selection cling-wrapped like produce on lit display shelves is enough to make you shiver. I can only imagine having it on a plate in front of me.

Not feeling cannibalistic? Perhaps you could try the chicken and pig parts instead.
