Mutterings of a Mad Woman

As of this morning, all of the previous Plague Doctors have been adopted. Thank you to everyone who has given them a new home.

I spent the morning getting images together for the first 2 figures in Series 5. They are currently on Etsy (UPDATE: He's been adopted. Thanks!) and also have been added to the Art Ghoullery where you can see full images of each one.

It's been a while since I made a figure who wore his hat and had a white mask. I wanted to give him an appearance of old plaster.

And for the second image, I've never made a figure who wore his hat and had a red mask. I do so love the look of the red mask. Almost kept this one for myself.

Rounding out series 4 is a figure whose mask is actually a complete helmet.

Perhaps they are readying for war.

Or maybe it's a result of me watching too many Doctor Who episodes, and this is some sort of Dalek/Cybermen hybrid.

Whatever it is, it's resulted in a very unique figure with tons of tiny detailing.

Series 5 - the next group of figures - are waiting to be photographed. Two hold their hats, and two wear them.

The last group remains unpainted as of this moment. Once they are done, I'll be moving on to new creatures for a few months.

Figure two in series four.

I've dubbed him "The Cardinal". He doesn't have all of the classic colourings of the aforementioned bird, but the word comes to me every time I look at him.

I've wanted to paint one of those leather hoods bright red for a long time. Especially since I painted that one mask bright red. Makes me feel better now that I have it out of my system.

He has joined his brother in my Etsy shop. (Updated: he has been adopted. Thank you!)

I can't tell if the set of pictures (below) look like a mugshot collection or some sort of record album promo card. I just like how it turned out. He seems to be photogenic with a little dash of cool.

Walked into a Chapters store yesterday while celebrating Yetch's birthday. And what should I discover? The January/February issue of Rue Morgue magazine has hit the stores.

We quickly flipped to page 14 and there they were.

I laughed and said "I'm famous!", much to the confusion of fellow shoppers nearby. Ok, so I'm not really famous. I need a word that expresses kinda-sorta-famous-in-a-particular-way. I tried using "fermus" but I'm not sure it will catch on.

I snatched up three copies - one for me, one for a friend, and one for my mother if she can't find it at her local store - and happily carried them to the front cash. The woman behind the desk, as she was ringing them in, said - half stating, half asking - "you have...three of the same issue."

"Yes" I said. "I certainly do."

Now, of course, I just need to finish the next set of Plague Doctors. There are 12 in total at various stages of completion. I expect to have 4 ready by next week.

There is still one left in my Etsy store from a previous series.

Do I need to makes signs for my tables at shows that read "As seen in Rue Morgue Magazine" now? ;)
